1. What this is
WhoChat Live is a live video chat service. You open it, allow the camera, and get put in a room with one other person who did the same thing. Either of you can leave whenever you like, and the room stops existing when you do.
It runs in a browser tab. There's nothing to install, and you don't have to create an account to start. That's the entire proposition, and we would rather describe it plainly than dress it up as a community, a movement, or a way to meet your people.
2. How it works
- You press start. The browser asks for camera and microphone access, and nothing happens until you allow it.
- You're placed in a one-to-one room with another person who is online now. There's no audience and no third seat.
- Skip is one tap and ends the room immediately for both of you. A skip is the next match starting, so it spends one of your matches.
- When you leave, the pairing is gone. It isn't a contact list.
If you want the longer version of what this format is and when it's the wrong tool, we wrote it out on the page about one-to-one video chat.
3. How it makes money
Worth saying out loud, because a free service that never explains its economics is usually selling something it doesn't mention.
- Opening the site and reading it costs nothing, and does not need an account.
- You get a number of matches free, and a stretch of call time free.
- After that, video pairing runs on coins, which are bought with money.
- There is no separate charge for skipping or for hanging up — a skip is simply the next match starting, drawing on the same matches as any other. Charging people to leave a conversation would be an ugly way to run this.
That's the whole model. We don't sell your personal data, and we don't hand it to advertising networks — the privacy policy says so in a place where it's binding, not decorative. The precise terms around coins and refunds are in section 3 of the terms.
4. What we enforce
Two rules matter more than the rest and have no warning stage: nobody under 18, and nobody on camera who hasn't agreed to be there. Beyond that, this isn't an adult platform — nudity and sexual content are removed, not tolerated quietly.
The full list is in the community guidelines, and the standard we hold ourselves to on anything involving minors is set out separately on the child safety page.
We also describe how the moderation actually works, including the automated part, instead of gesturing at "advanced AI moderation" and leaving it there. Section 3 of the privacy policy spells out what the service samples from your camera and what it does with it. Most sites in this category don't tell you that. We would rather be the kind of site that does.
5. What we publish
Alongside the product there are a handful of pages comparing this service with the alternatives and explaining how to choose between them. They're indexed from the comparison index, and there's a broader guide to picking a video chat app.
Those pages are written by us about our own product, so read them as what they are. What we hold ourselves to is that every factual claim on them is checkable, and that where a competitor is better at something we say so instead of leaving it out.
In practice that comes down to three working rules. Anything we say about another product comes from that product's own site, and we write down the month we looked, because these sites change and a comparison with no date on it is a comparison you can't check. Numbers a company publishes about itself stay labelled as that company's claim. And every one of those pages carries a section listing the cases where you'd be better off staying where you are, which is the part a comparison page normally leaves out and the part that makes the rest of it worth reading.
We don't invent ratings. We don't publish testimonials from people who don't exist. We don't print a user count anywhere on this site, because we'd have no way to prove one to you and you'd have no reason to believe it.
6. What we haven't built
A product is defined as much by what it refuses as by what it ships, and the refusals are more useful to you than another paragraph about the features.
- No filters on who you get, today. Matching runs random. Filtering is a real feature that real people want, and the reason it isn't here yet is that every condition you add makes the matcher wait for somebody who satisfies it, which costs the speed the whole format runs on. We wrote out what a gender filter actually checks, because the answer turns out to be a good deal less than most people assume. If it ships, this line changes, and so do the pages that currently say matching is random.
- No recording of calls. Section 3 of the privacy policy sets out exactly what is and isn't kept, including the part most sites in this category never mention.
- No profile to build before you start. Not a short one, not a skippable one. A guest session opens quietly while the page loads, and closing the tab ends it.
- No charge for leaving. Ending a call carries no separate fee, and a skip is the next match starting rather than a penalty for getting out. Charging somebody to leave a conversation they don't want is a business model we'd rather not have.
- No invented company. You won't find a founding year we made up, a stock photo team, an office address we don't hold, or an award nobody gave us. What we can prove is on this site. What we can't prove isn't.
6. What this isn't
- Not a dating service. There are no profiles to swipe and no matching on preferences.
- Not an adult platform. See section 4.
- Not a way to meet a specific person. Pairing isn't something you can steer toward an individual.
- Not a place to build an audience. One-to-one means one person, not a stream.
- Not anonymous in the strong sense. Your camera shows your face and your connection has an IP address. Treat it as "a stranger who doesn't know your name", which is a very different thing from untraceable.
