Free live video chat, with the price list written down

Every site in this category says free on the front page. Most of them mean it, and most of them stop explaining there. This page is the other half: what costs nothing here, where the free part ends, and what happens at the line.

01 / THE LINE

What is free, item by item

Green is free. The one row in brand colour is the one that costs money.

  • Opening the siteEvery page, every word on it. No account, no card, no email. You can read the whole thing and leave.
  • Your first matchesYou start with a set number of free video matches. A number, spent one match at a time.
  • Talk time inside a callEach call carries a stretch of free talk time of its own. It is per call, not one shared pot for the day.
  • Text matchingDoes not draw on the video allowance at all. Cheaper for us to run, so it stays its own lane.
  • SkippingA skip is just the next match starting. There is no separate charge for the skip itself, but it spends one of the matches above — skip ten times and you have used ten matches.
  • Video pairing after thatRuns on coins. You buy them, or collect them free from the reward centre on a timer.

One paid row out of six is not us being generous. It is where the money actually goes: carrying live video between two people costs real bandwidth, and moderation is people being paid to do a job. Text is cheap to run, so text sits in its own lane. Video is not, so video is where the line sits.

02 / COINS

How coins work, in four sentences

Coins are the unit video pairing is billed in. You hold a balance, a match draws on it, and when it runs low the product says so rather than cutting you off mid sentence. You can buy them, and you can collect them free from the reward centre, which hands them out on a timer.

What coins are not is money. They are a licence to use features inside this service: they do not move between accounts, they do not convert back into currency, and they end when the account they live on ends. That is not fine print, it is the whole nature of the thing, and section 3 of the terms puts it in the language that binds.

We deliberately print no figures here. What a coin costs and how many a match takes are set on the server and they move. A number typed into this page in September has a decent chance of being wrong by March, and a stale price is worse than no price, because a visitor reads it as a promise instead of a snapshot. The shape holds still, so the shape is what gets written down.

03 / WITHOUT PAYING

Three ways to keep using this without spending anything

  1. 01

    Stay in text

Text matching does not draw on the video allowance. If what you want is somebody to talk to and the camera is optional to you, this is the lane that keeps costing nothing, and it is a different kind of match, not a crippled version of the real one.

  2. 02

    Collect from the reward centre

Coins arrive on a timer, free. It is slower than buying, and it suits somebody who drops in a few evenings a month better than somebody who is here nightly. If that describes you, you may never reach the paid part at all.

  3. 03

    Spend the free matches deliberately

The free batch is a number, spent one match at a time, so skipping fast burns through it fast. That is not an argument for staying in a conversation you want out of. It is an argument for knowing that the skip button and the free batch are connected, which nobody tells you on the front page.

04 / AT THE LINE

What actually happens when the free part runs out

You get told, inside the call, while it is still running. As the free talk time winds down the option to top up surfaces in stages, so the end of the free stretch is something you see coming instead of something that happens to you.

This is the part worth being precise about, because it is where these products usually get sly. A conversation that dies on a payment wall with no warning is not a pricing decision, it is a design decision, and it is the one that makes people leave a site for good. Telling you early costs us the occasional impulse top-up. It is worth it.

If you close the tab at that point, nothing happens. There is no account in a different state than it was this morning, no subscription quietly running, and nothing to cancel.

05 / NOT HERE

Four pricing tricks this site does not use

A card before the first face. Charging is fine. Charging you to find out whether there is anything here is not, and it is the reason so many people in this category have stopped trusting the word free entirely.

A free trial that bills you on day eight. There is no subscription here to forget about. Coins are bought when you decide to buy them.

Charging to leave. Ending a call carries no separate charge, and a skip is the next match starting rather than a fee for getting out. A product that bills you for leaving a conversation you do not want has its incentives pointed at the wrong thing.

A price you only meet mid-conversation. The whole point of this page is that you met it here instead, with your coat still on.

06 / FAQ

Straight answers about the money

So is free live video chat here actually free?

The way in is, and the first stretch of it is. You get a set number of free video matches and a stretch of free talk time in each call, and text matching does not touch either. Past that, video pairing runs on coins. We would rather you knew the shape of that now than met it in the middle of a good conversation.

Do I have to enter a card to start?

No. There is no card field, no trial to cancel, and no payment step standing between you and your first match. The camera permission is the only thing you have to agree to, and that one is your browser asking, not us.

How do I know when the free part is running out?

You get told inside the call, before it ends. As the free talk time runs down the product surfaces the option to top up, in stages, so the conversation does not simply stop on you with no warning.

Can I get coins without paying?

Yes. The reward centre hands out coins on a timer. It is slower than buying them and it is genuinely free, which makes it the right route if you use the site occasionally and the wrong one if you are here every evening.

Why not just print the prices on this page?

Because what a coin costs and how many a match takes are set on the server and they move. A figure typed into a page in September has a decent chance of being wrong by March, and a stale price is worse than no price, because a visitor reads it as a promise. The shape holds still, so the shape is what we write down.

What happens to coins I bought if I stop using the site?

They stay on the account they were bought on. They are a licence to use features inside this service, not currency, so they do not transfer between accounts and cannot be cashed out. Section 3 of the terms says this in the language that binds.

If what you actually want is the comparison against another site that calls itself free, there is a page for that. If you want the format explained instead of the price, one room and two people is its own subject.

Now you know where the line is. Go and find out if you like it.
