1. The short version
One stranger at a time, both cameras on, either of you free to leave. That only works if everyone arrives with the same expectations. These are those expectations.
Two rules carry more weight than the rest and have no warning stage attached to them: nobody under 18, and nobody on camera who hasn't agreed to be there. Everything after section 3 is detail.
These guidelines are part of the terms of service. Breaking them is a breach of that agreement, not a matter of taste.
2. Who may be on camera
You, and anyone in the room who knows the camera is on and has agreed to it. That's the whole list.
- Do not point the camera at people who haven't agreed: flatmates, family, people at the next table, anyone walking past.
- Do not use the service in a place where strangers can be seen behind you without knowing it.
- Do not film someone else and pass it off as your own feed.
- Do not stay on camera after being told the other person wants out. Leaving is always available to both of you and using it's never rude.
3. Under 18s
This service is 18+. Not 16, not the local age of majority: 18. Anyone under that may not use it, may not appear on camera in it, and may not be in the background of it. There's no warning, no strike, and no second look: accounts go, and reports involving a minor are escalated, not filed.
If someone you're matched with looks like they could be under 18, end the call and report it. You aren't being unfair to them by doing so, and it's the single most useful thing any user does here. The full standard, including what we do with those reports, is on the child safety page.
4. A real person, live
The premise of the product is that the person on your screen is a person, and is there now. Undermining that's a violation in itself, separately from anything else.
- No pre-recorded video played into the camera, and no looping clips.
- No still photographs held up to the lens, and no empty rooms.
- No rebroadcasting someone else's stream as your own.
- No automated accounts, scripted sessions, or software driving the matching for you.
- No camera pointed at the ceiling while you do something else. If you aren't present, leave the call.
We check for this, and we check automatically as well as by report. The mechanism isn't a secret: the service samples still frames from the camera and looks at whether there's a face in them. What that involves in data terms is written out in section 3 of the privacy policy, in full, including what is sent and when the image itself is uploaded.
5. Nudity and sexual content
This isn't an adult platform. Nudity, exposed intimate body parts, sexual acts, and sexual performance on camera are all prohibited, including between adults who both want it. Sexual solicitation and sexually explicit talk aimed at someone who didn't ask for it are prohibited for the more obvious reason.
The same standard applies to avatars, profile photos, posts and display names. Suggestive content that stops just short is still enforced against. The moderation line is where a reasonable person would put it, not where the most creative reading of a rule would.
6. Harassment and hate
You'll meet people you've nothing in common with. Skip takes one tap, which makes it the correct response to almost everything on this list.
- No threats of violence, and no encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
- No attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender or sexuality.
- No sexual harassment, and no repeatedly pushing a subject after being told to stop.
- No pursuing someone after the call ends: messages, other platforms, or trying to find them offline.
- No posting someone's personal information, and no threatening to.
7. Recording other people
Do not record, screen-capture or photograph the person you're matched with without their agreement, and don't post anything of them anywhere. In many places this is illegal on top of being against these rules.
The practical warning is worth stating alongside the rule: we can't stop someone at the other end from pointing a phone at their own screen. Assume anything you show could be captured, and decide what to show on that basis.
8. Scams, spam and contact details
- No fraud, fake giveaways, crypto pitches, investment offers, or romance scams.
- No impersonating another person, a company, or our staff.
- No using matches to advertise, recruit, or push people to another service.
- No handing out or collecting contact details and payment handles as a business.
For your own protection: nobody legitimate on this service will ever ask you for a payment, a gift card code, a login, or a verification code. Someone who does is running a scam, and the report button is the answer.
9. Profiles and posts
Anything you put on a profile (display name, avatar, bio, posts, comments) follows the same rules as the camera, plus these:
- Nothing sexual, and nothing using a minor's image.
- No contact details, other apps, or advertising.
- No content glorifying drugs, weapons or self-harm, and nothing gory.
- No fake photos passed off as you, and no photos of someone else.
Public profile pages have URLs, and URLs get indexed by search engines. Put nothing on one that you wouldn't want found under your name.
10. How to report someone
Use the report control in the call or on the person's profile. That's faster than email because it carries the context (who, when, which room) automatically.
For anything involving a minor, a credible threat, or content you believe is illegal, also write to [email protected] so it reaches a person directly. Say what you saw and roughly when. Do not send us screenshots of illegal content. Tell us where to look instead.
11. What happens next
Depending on what was reported and what we find, the outcome is one of: nothing, a removal of the specific content, a temporary suspension, or a permanent close of the account and the sessions attached to it. Serious categories skip straight to the last one.
Reports aren't published, and the person you reported isn't told who reported them. The record of the decision is kept after the account goes. Otherwise a ban would last exactly as long as it takes to press delete and sign up again.
We deliberately don't promise a review time here. We would rather under-promise and answer than publish a number we can't hold to.
12. If we got it wrong
Moderation makes mistakes, ours included. If your account was actioned and you think the call was wrong, write to [email protected] from the address on the account and say what you think happened. A person reads it and can reverse it.
One exception, stated plainly so nobody wastes their time: decisions made under section 3 aren't reversed on appeal.
Questions about anything on this page reach a person at [email protected].
